FROM YOUR FIRST ENQUIRY TO THE DRIVE HOME

Your fitting & aftercare.

What to include in your enquiry, how to prepare and what happens when your upgrade is fitted. One helpful guide for every Motorquip service.

01 · PLAN IT TOGETHER

A complete quote for your vehicle.

Start with your registration, make and model, the upgrade you have in mind and what you want it to do. You do not need to know the technical specification or choose every component before getting in touch.

Mention any relevant equipment already fitted. That might be a factory premium sound system, an existing camera, a leisure battery or an alarm. Previous modifications can affect the parts and fitting work needed.

For camper and commercial electrics, tell us which appliances you use, how long you spend away from hook-up and whether you charge while driving. For a towbar, tell us whether it is for a trailer, caravan or cycle carrier.

A website enquiry helps us prepare a quote; it does not book a fitting appointment. We confirm compatibility and the installation details with you before booking.

02 · A LITTLE PREPARATION

Ready for your fitting day.

Leave room to work

Clear personal items from the areas involved in the installation, such as the boot, footwells or camper storage around the electrical system. Remove valuables and leave the equipment we need accessible.

Bring the useful essentials

Bring the vehicle keys and anything agreed with the team. For a stereo or CarPlay upgrade, have your phone and the cable you normally use available for the handover. If you have relevant equipment manuals, bring those too.

Explain existing issues

Tell us about warning messages, intermittent faults, previous modifications or functions that are not working before the appointment. This helps us understand the vehicle as it arrives.

Confirm your plans

Arrange drop-off and collection in advance. If you need to leave the vehicle the evening before, contact us first: secure overnight storage can be arranged. Tell us if your plans change.

03 · THE RIGHT PLACE

Two workshops. Check your booking.

Our town-centre Motorquip premises and Seale Hayne workshop are separate locations. We will confirm which workshop is handling your vehicle. Do not assume the same location as a previous visit.

04 · GET TO KNOW YOUR UPGRADE

Collection & handover.

Allow time to go through equipment we supply and fit. Bring the phone you will use with a connected stereo, camera or app so the relevant functions can be demonstrated.

Ask about everyday controls, settings and any checks the manufacturer recommends. Keep the equipment instructions and your installation paperwork somewhere you can find them again.

For audio, this includes understanding your system and its controls. For camper electrics, discuss charging, battery monitoring and the loads the fitted system is intended to run. For security equipment, make sure you understand the agreed registration, subscription and everyday use requirements.

05 · HELP AFTER THE INSTALLATION

Keep in touch.

If you have a question about using your fitted equipment, contact our team. Include your name, vehicle registration, the equipment concerned and roughly when we fitted it so we can identify the installation.

For a fault, describe what happens, when it happens and any message shown. Let us know if anything has changed since the fitting. We will discuss the next step and arrange a workshop visit if needed.

Do not change installation wiring or electrical protection to investigate a problem. Keep the manufacturer’s instructions and contact us for advice about the system we fitted.

A FEW COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you set off.

Can I bring equipment I have already bought?

Please speak to us before buying anything for us to install. We occasionally agree to fit customer-supplied stereos, subject to compatibility and agreement before booking. We do not fit customer-supplied fitting parts or off-brand head units.

Customer-supplied stereo fitting has different aftercare arrangements from our complete supply-and-fit service and does not include the same demonstration. A removal charge applies if a customer-supplied stereo needs to be removed for warranty work. Discuss the fitting terms with us before booking.

Our South Devon Car Audio systems are supplied and installed as a complete service; we do not sell audio parts as DIY kits.

Can I wait while the work is done?

Tell us what you need when arranging the appointment. The Wolborough Street premises have a small waiting room, but the time and access needed depend on the installation. Agree the arrangements with us instead of assuming a fitting will be completed while you wait.

What if my vehicle is a large van or motorhome?

Call before travelling so we can confirm the right workshop and access arrangements. Camper and commercial projects use our separate Seale Hayne workshop by appointment. Parking at Wolborough Street is limited.

Can several upgrades be fitted together?

Yes, tell us everything you would like to improve in one enquiry. We can discuss the equipment, compatibility and installation work together, then confirm the fitting plan and quote.

How long will fitting take, and how do I pay?

The fitting time and booking arrangements depend on your vehicle and the work involved. Ask the team to confirm the expected time, collection arrangements, payment method and any booking requirements with your quote.
